  • Actively participate in strategic discussions for algorithms scoping and roadmap.
  • Implement and improve existing algorithms in simulation environments and field deployments.
  • Develop new distributed control and optimization techniques for microgrids and DER systems.
  • Process and analyze DER performance data to create reports and inform the improvements of algorithms.
  • Develop software to translate mathematical ideas into actionable code in the Heila Platform.
  • Lead teams during experimental tests of algorithms in field deployments, including managing R&D project roadmaps, including the ownership of timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Develop communication strategies to convey control concepts to customers, collaborators, and other industry players.
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs and inform the product’s features roadmap.
  • Support the writing of reports and grants.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing by owning and maintaining comprehensive documentation on architecture and processes.
  • Contribute to the development of Heila’s automated test and build infrastructure.


  • MS degree in engineering or computer science is preferred.
  • 3+ years working on optimization and development of power systems, DERs and their control.
  • Knowledge of programming languages including Python, Java and C++.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and state of the art libraries used in the industry.
  • Ability to learn new concepts through research and self-study.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to maintain good communications with B2B customers and offsite deployment teams.
