Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s cybersecurity strategy, policies, and procedures to ensure the protection of any Distributed Energy Resources (DER) project where our energy monitoring, control, and optimization solutions are deployed.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize cybersecurity risks, and implement effective measures to mitigate those risks.
  • Responsible for coordinating cross-functional vulnerability management and incident response.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats, and ensure that the company’s cybersecurity measures are aligned with the energy industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders, such as IT, product, engineering, and projects delivery and operations, to ensure that cybersecurity considerations are integrated into all aspects of the company’s operations and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, regulators, partners, suppliers, and insurers to ensure that the company’s enterprise and product cybersecurity measures are aligned with their requirements and expectations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in conversations with customers and partners, supporting the sales and applications engineering teams through the contract negotiation process. This will include providing assessments and reports to the stakeholders based on their specific needs.
  • Ensure that both the company and its solutions comply with relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards, such as ISO 27001, NIST, NERC, SunSpec and others.
  • Pursue and obtain critical company and solutions level certifications, such as UL, CMMC, and others.
  • Work with external consultants and auditors to run audits and analyses to comply with best practices, as well as standards and certification requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports on the company’s cybersecurity posture and risk profile and communicate this information to the senior management and board of directors.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field required. Master’s, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience and a minimum of 7 years as a subject matter expert and leader in a Cybersecurity role, with a strong track record of successfully completing cybersecurity initiatives, ideally within the energy industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and practices, including threat intelligence, vulnerability management, incident response and recovery, network security, and identity and access management. These should be applicable to both on-site and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity working with the cybersecurity requirements of and implications of integrating with SCADA/industrial control systems.
  • Experience with US and international standards and certifications, such as ISO 27001, NIST, NERC, SunSpec and others, especially those associated with distributed energy systems and utilities cybersecurity requirements.
  •  Professional security certification from SANS (e.g., GSEC, GCSA, GPYC), (ISC)2 (e.g., Certified Cloud Security Professional, Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or other relevant certification (e.g., Certified Ethical Hacker) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage risk and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Passion for clean energy and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
