Heila Technologies Co-Founder and CEO Recognized as Sustainability Hero of the Year

Francisco Morocz named 2021 Sustainability Award Winner by the Business Intelligence Group

Boston, MA – September 7, 2021 – Heila Technologies, an energy technology leader responsible for controlling, aggregating, and optimizing distributed energy resources (DERs), today announced Francisco Morocz, CEO and co-founder, has been named a winner in the 2021 Sustainability Awards program. The Sustainability Awards honor those who have made sustainability an integral part of their business practice.

With Morocz and Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Jorge Elizondo at its helm, Heila is transforming the energy industry from the ground up with its cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable technology. The core product and idea behind Heila, the Heila Edge® platform, is designed to help solve the environmental sustainability crisis by simplifying the aggregation, integration with the grid, and optimization of DERs with advanced system controls and functionality. Heila is known for its decentralized approach to microgrid control and optimization, which is the most state-of-the-art architecture in the industry today.

In the last year, as CEO, Morocz has led the company to raise more than $3 million to help the company expand, has won numerous awards and grants for Heila’s innovative, unrivaled solution to the energy crisis, and has launched its product in several countries – including installing the first microgrid at a hotel in Latin America.

“For me to be honored as a Sustainability Award winner is not an individual achievement, but rather a recognition of the hard work, perseverance, and vision of our entire Heila team. We’ve done some impactful work over the past year, and as the climate crisis intensifies, we still have so much left to do,” said Morocz. “By relying on the innovative thinking on which our company was founded, I’m confident that together we can advance the sustainable, reliable, and equitable grid our planet desperately needs.”

For-profit and not-for-profit organizations of all sizes submitted nominations to reward team members and gain exposure for the organization, its initiatives, and the exemplary accomplishments of its leaders as they work to reduce their impact on our environment. Morocz was recognized alongside fellow winners Apolónia Rodrigues, President of Dark Sky®, Michael Tuohy, VP of Environment & Sustainability at Intelex Technologies ULC, and Kyra Whitten, VP, Sustainability, and President, Flex Foundation, at Flex.

“We are so proud to reward and recognize all of our winners and finalists, as they provide the leadership and vision needed to protect our environment,” said Maria Jimenez, Chief Nominations Officer, Business Intelligence Group.
