SOMERVILLE, Massachusetts — Heila Technologies Inc. (Heila) has been selected to present its Heila Edge ® platform to investors and industry representatives at the 2021 NREL Industry Growth Forum (IGF), to be held virtually on April 20-22, 2021. The IGF, celebrating its 26th anniversary, is hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). It is one of the nation’s premier events for cleantech entrepreneurs and other industry experts. Heila was selected from a field of more than 150 entrepreneurs following an extensive selection process.

The company’s Heila Edge ® platform simplifies the integration, operation, optimization and scale-up of distributed energy resource (DER) systems. The solution is composed of hardware and software elements and leverages state-of-the-art edge-computing technology and proprietary decentralized control and optimization algorithms to unlock the intelligent and automated coordination and grid integration of all DERs. Recently, Heila has been recognized for its innovative modular energy platform as one of BOSTINNO’s “21 Startups to Watch in 2021” and as part of Cleantech Group’s list of “50 to Watch” for 2020.

“We’re excited to have been chosen to present at the Industry Growth Forum, and we’re delighted by NREL’s support for our mission,” said Dr. Jorge Elizondo, CTO of Heila. “The opportunity for industry collaboration and innovation at the IGF comes at a key time as we
work to build cleaner and more resilient grid systems.”

More than 600 cleantech investors, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives are expected to attend this year’s IGF. Among them will be 40 of the world’s most promising start-up companies, including Heila, that will be presenting their cleantech innovations to potential
investors and industry experts. In addition, the companies will compete for the 2021 outstanding venture awards.

“We’re facing global pressures to reduce negative climate impacts and ensure clean water, clean air, and sustainable energy and food systems,” said IGF Program Manager Sheila Ebbitt.

“We received applications from around the world and across technology sectors. It was a challenge for our investor selection committee to narrow the selection down to the top 40 startups.”
